Privacy policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026. Here we explain, with no fine print, what data we process on somosbacanes.cl, what we use it for and how you can exercise your rights.
1. Who we are
The controller of your data is Somos Bacanes SpA, RUT 78.457.333-8, domiciled in Viña del Mar, Valparaíso Region, Chile. You can write to us at hola@somosbacanes.cl.
2. What data we process
If you subscribe, we process two pieces of data: your email address and the origin of your subscription, a label such as ‘instagram’ or ‘sitio-pasaporte’ that tells us which channel or page you came from. We don’t ask for your name, phone number or anything else. We also use aggregated, anonymous web analytics (Vercel Analytics) that uses no cookies and identifies no individuals.
3. What we use it for, and on what basis
We use your email to send you the newsletter, one email a week, and the welcome email with the Passport booklet as a PDF. We use the origin only to count, in aggregate, which channels bring us subscribers. The legal basis is your consent, which you give when you subscribe and can withdraw at any time. We don’t sell, rent or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. Zero spam.
4. Where it’s stored and who else processes it
Your email and its origin are stored in Brevo, our email platform, based in France, which processes them on our behalf. The site is hosted by Vercel, in the United States, which also runs the form that passes your email to Brevo. Since both providers are outside Chile, your data is transferred to the European Union and the United States, under each provider’s contractual data protection safeguards.
5. How long we keep it
For as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, Brevo keeps your email flagged as unsubscribed only so that we never write to you again. If you ask us to delete it entirely, we will.
6. Your rights
Under Law 19.628 on the protection of private life, as amended by Law 21.719, you have the right to access your data, rectify it, delete it, object to its processing, and request its portability and blocking. To exercise these rights, write to hola@somosbacanes.cl and we’ll reply within the legal deadline. If you’re not satisfied, you can file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Agency.
7. Unsubscribing
Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also ask us directly at hola@somosbacanes.cl and we’ll remove your email from the list.
8. Cookies and what is stored in your browser
We use no tracking or advertising cookies. The site does store some data in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), which never reaches us: sb_origen, the channel you first arrived from, which is only sent if you subscribe (section 2); in the Passport, your stamps and their dates, your passport number, your filters and the notices you have already seen (keys starting with sb_pasaporte_); and in the Map, the last region you viewed (sb_viaje_ultima).
We keep no copy of your Passport stamps: if you clear the site’s data in your browser, they are gone. If you share your Passport link, that link carries which places you stamped, without dates, and whoever receives it can see them.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above. If a change affects what data of yours we process or why, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
